There's been much speculation that Missouri would get an invite from the Big Ten, too, but ESPN's Adam Rittenberg reports there are no other imminent candidates at this point, which would freeze out the Tigers and Notre Dame, at least for now.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But the Fighting Irish are the wild card in this evolving equation. Several media outlets report that the Big Ten has been in talks with Notre Dame this week, but athletic director Jack Swarbrick has publicly maintained that ND wants to remain independent in football.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One sticking point for the Big Ten may be membership to the Association of American Universities, a nonprofit, invite-only collection of public and private universities. All 11 Big Ten schools are in the AAU. So, too, is Nebraska.
